There was a point, long long ago, where GirlGenius spent what felt like weeks following 4 of Agatha's little flying clanks as they tried to escape the StormKing's castle to get word out of Agatha's little 'other' problem ("Agatha's Backup" sequence).

One of the clanks hid as a bowling ball and made a successful escape, presumably off to find Wooster.

And yet... we never see the clank again, and Wooster certainly didn't seem to have received any such message. I can (almost) understand spending weeks on a subplot like that, to see the 4th and last messenger cruelly shot down. But to spend weeks on a subplot and then have it disappear like nothing had ever happened... seems wrong. I wonder if the little flying clank will ever reappear. Other things reappear all the time in this comic...

(Cannon ball, surely. :) )

The trouble with reading the darned thing as a webcomic is a much reduced ability to keep track of these things (for me as a reader anyway)... I remember the clank, I don't remember whether or not I thought I knew what the upshot was.

Er. yeah, cannon ball. Yeah, I only noticed because I happened to reread that bit and remembered that Andy and I had complained about how long this little side bit was taking... and then tried to remember what the outcome was, and when I couldn't remember an outcome, I looked for it and found out that entire plot thread just vanished into nothingness. A pistol was carefully laid on the mantel in Act 1, loaded and primed in Act 2, and then quietly disappeared off-stage before Act 3. Chekhov weeps.
