Connie Willis

For those who have read Connie Willis' "Passage", the real world equivalent is now being examined in a pretty massive way (as I found out to my surprise while reading Science Magazine).

They will even "test the validity of out of body experiences and claims of being able to ‘see’ and ‘hear’ during cardiac arrest."

Well, as long as it is Passage coming true, and not Doomsday Book. Or Last of the Winnebagoes. I just wonder if any of the people who are doing the study have read the book...

Yeah, I thought of that book when I heard about that experiment.

Love that book. So cool and so sad.

But, if I had to choose ... I'd much rather have historians time-travelling :).

Oh, hmm. The time-travelling is pretty cool, I'll admit. And the universe in that book does seem to be careful about not allowing paradoxes. If we could get the time travel and the cool historians without the pre-book world-wide flu/plague/whatever it was.

This was going to be my vote, too! Only maybe without quite so much sleep-dep.
