I'm going round the bend!

Anyway, I'm in round X of editing. I hope that I'm getting to the "sick of reading drafts" phase as illustrated in PhdComics.Com. I've actually had one professor (not on my committee) tell me that he pretty much uses this criteria for telling students when they're done. I really really really hope that when I finish this round of edits (hopefully by next week) that that will be it. The document looks like a real thesis now, anyway, all formatted and properly referenced and stuff.

I'm still not sure if I should feel lucky/flattered or cursed/worried that all three of my committee members have decided that my thesis is worth reading with a fine tooth comb. I feel like other people I know don't even have their own _advisor_ read their full thesis, much less their other committee members...

Maybe it's just a trend in our department. Certainly my thesis was scrutinized as well. It ended up a much better document though, so it's a good thing!

That's so totally awesome! In your cheering section: Gimme a W! Gimme an R! Gimme an I! Gimme a T! Gimme an E! What's that spell?? uh, sorry, I'm too tired to think now....

In addition to the "sick of reading" criterion, maybe they don't feel enough self-importance from you. Do you feel like a Really Smart Person? Like a Person with Initials After His Name? You could try returning one of their revisions with your own revisions to their revisions written in thick indellible fuscia....

But seriously, I think it's awesome that you're so close to finishing. What will you do to celebrate?

Your writing must be so captivating that any reader is unable to put it down without fully experiencing the flurry of your ideas raining down on the parched landscape of their brains...
