Party Planning
Feb. 23rd, 2007 03:23 pmAs previously mentioned, I'll be defending on March 19th. In celebration of finally finishing my doctorate, I'm planning on throwing a party (EDIT: probably Saturday March 24th). However, the location of said party is not yet obvious, and for that I wanted to get advice:
Things I might like at my party: dancing, music, games, food. Most importantly, people.
If I want dancing, this suddenly limits my choice of venues to places with appropriate floors, which rules out my apartment. Of course, even if I give up on my dancing hopes, my apartment might be too small for the party, anyway.
So do people have recommendations on where I might find an appropriate location with about a month's notice? I am willing to spend a decent amount for the right kind of place. The other option is finding space at MIT, which would probably mean 4th floor of the student center (all of the larger spaces are booked already). But MIT space would require student group or departmental sponsorship.
I'll also take suggestions on other fun things to do for my party. If it was outdoor weather, I'd have considered a celebratory picnic, but I think that mid March is inappropriate for that.
