4th of July
Jul. 5th, 2006 02:30 pmThe 4th of July in Boston is one of my favorite holidays. When else do we shut streets down and let pedestrians take over the city? (Well, First Night, but I always seem to end up spending it either out of state or in a nice cozy house playing games somewhere. Also, the Cambridge River Festival, which I missed this year... and most Sundays in summer on Mem Drive... but _other_ than that!) It is just so great to see all the happy people outside enjoying the weather (even the brief rainfall) and strolling to and fro besides the river, bumping into people you know all over the place, outdoor BBQs, games, and general conviviality.
Sadly, I could not be everywhere, and missed a whole bunch of cool things happening in Davis.
Also: did anyone on my friends list try and buzz me at my building at 11:30 pm last night? I was puttering, and didn't notice my phone ring, and now I'm insanely curious, because no one ever just "drops by" my place. (Probably in part because I'm almost never home) (though people walking by should feel welcome to try!)
